Dissolving and Removing Prophy Powder Residues

Have you experienced problems with prophy powders causing blockages in handpieces? These residues can be difficult to remove and the cleaning process can be time-consuming.

Now imagine that instead of a handpiece, it is your suction unit that becomes blocked. This can happen over time if powder residues are allowed to accumulate within the system.

For this reason, a dedicated cleaner is required — one that is specifically formulated to remove prophy powders and other stubborn deposits. MD 555 cleaner has been tested against a range of comparable products on the market, with significant differences in cleaning performance observed. The pH Value is the Key

An acidic cleaner with a low pH value is required to dissolve prophy powders and mineral deposits such as limescale. MD 555 cleaner provides the appropriate acidic properties for this purpose.

By contrast, suction unit disinfectants such as Orotol plus are alkaline (high pH). This alkalinity is essential for effective protection against bacteria, fungi and viruses, and for removing organic deposits such as blood and saliva.

To ensure optimal maintenance and long-term preservation of your suction system, two coordinated products should be used:

• An alkaline disinfectant (e.g. Orotol plus)

• An acidic cleaner (e.g. MD 555)
